Hi there, nice to meet you!
I’m Nagi, and RecipeTin Eats is my corner of the internet!
I’m the voice, cook and eater behind RecipeTin Eats. I create recipes, take photos of them, write them up and make recipe tutorial videos. Oh, and I have a food bank – RecipeTin Meals – and I wrote a cookbook too!

I live in beautiful Sydney, Australia, and have an unhealthy obsession with all things food and my dog Dozer, an abnormally large and very cheeky golden retriever.
When I say he’s “abnormally large”, I mean it! Proof:

(OK, possibly I am a little on the short side too….😂)
My recipes
My website reflects my philosophy on food and cooking – fast, creative, clever and fresh.
That’s fast meals for busy weeknights.
Creative new ideas and fresh takes on favourites to shortcut preparation, cut down on cost and create food with style.
Clever cooking so that you don’t sacrifice taste just because you’re short on time and on a budget. I’ll show you how to get gourmet flavours out of budget ingredients and how you can get organised so it’s a breeze to serve up nourishing meals to your family that will knock their socks off.
And fresh meals that are made from scratch. I don’t use store bought packet mixes or canned soup.

My recipes are cost conscious, made using everyday ingredients and (mostly) pretty healthy. I don’t use a tub of cream or blocks of cream cheese in every sauce, and I only deep fry when I really think it’s worth it.
But, sometimes I feel the need to unleash the demon within. 🙂

OK, maybe a little more than sometimes……

A bit about me …
Born in Japan, raised in Sydney, Australia, I’ve travelled the world from Europe to the Middle East, across Asia and America.
In a previous life, I worked in corporate finance. Though I thoroughly enjoyed my “first” career, I wanted to pursue a future where my passion really lies – food. 🙂
Today, I’m extremely fortunate to be able to say that I make a living doing what I truly love – creating and sharing my favourite recipes with people from all over the world.
Growing up, budget was tight and even though my mother worked full time, we dined like royalty because she was so creative in the kitchen. And this is why I know it’s possible to make great, fresh food even if you’re short on time and on a budget.

The recipes on my blog draws on influences from my travels, my ever evolving fascination with how just a few simple ingredients can transform into something that tastes so amazing, and learning genius tricks from the masters of the world.
I want to show you how to make vibrant recipes made with everyday ingredients, spanning cuisines from around the world as well as classic comforts. Delicious recipes with the “wow” factor that are simple to make, cost effective and can often be prepared ahead.
I hope you find something on here to your taste! – Nagi x

What you will find on RecipeTin Eats
Seriously tasty simple recipes made using everyday ingredients. I don’t shop at gourmet stores.
Exciting New Ideas for Fast Midweek Meals.
Takeout favourites that truly taste like what you get at restaurants.
Easy recipes from around the world.
Can’t-Live-Without Classics. 🙂
Salads with oomph! Because if I’m having a salad as a meal, it’s got to be something special!
Cooking for a crowd. I like to entertain. So many of my recipes are convenient for cooking for a crowd, whether it be easy to make in large volumes, or make ahead.
Tried and tested recipes. I take great care to ensure my recipes work and are written concisely. I also add notes to help with substitutions (where possible) and explanations for things that I think may not be familiar to everyone.

What you won’t find on my blog
I don’t follow trends for the sake of it. I only share recipes I truly love. There will never be a cauliflower crust pizza on my blog.
I do not sacrifice taste just for the sake of reducing calories (or following a trend). My healthy recipes are accidentally healthy.
Food that looks pretty but tastes blah. Never, ever, ever!
Recipes with shortcuts that compromise on flavour. I will cheat at every opportunity. So long as it doesn’t compromise on flavour.

Difference in measures between countries
DID YOU KNOW….? Cups, tablespoons and teaspoon sizes differ between countries. For the vast majority of my recipes, the difference is not enough to affect the recipes – this mostly holds true for savoury recipes.
However, for baking recipes like cakes, slices, delicate desserts and especially cookies, the slight difference between measurements does matter.
So I ensure that my baking recipes are tested and written so that they will work for cooks in different countries. This also applies to any savoury recipes that are affected as well.

Oh – and I have a food bank!
During the height of the pandemic in 2021 when there was increased food insecurity in my community, I started my food bank, RecipeTin Meals, where we make homemade meals which are donated to the vulnerable.
I have 3 full time chefs who work in the kitchen making meals 5 days a week. Many of the recipes we use are from my website!

Finally … Don’t be shy, say “Hi”!
Drop me an email and say hi! Due to the sheer number of messages I receive, I sadly cannot respond to every one. However I do my very best to reply where I can (unless you’re SPAM!). One thing I can assure you is that I will see your message! You can contact me here.

Dear Nagi, condolences on the passing of your beautiful and faithful Dozer. We will all miss him, but there is a whole in your heart that will take some time to heal. xxx
Dear Nagi – I’m so grateful to you for the perfect recipes you so generously share with all of us and for the slice of life with your beloved Dozer we also get to share!
I know your heart is broken by his passing and his life will now be a cherished memory you will have forever. I know the emptiness of losing a treasured pet and there are no words!
Blessings 🐾🐾
Dear Nagi, I was first introduced to your website and delicious recipes 4 years ago from a friend’s recommendation, and now you are my go-to source for good eats. I have your cookbooks, subscribe to your emais, and keep up with your posts on social media. I, as so many, loved seeing Dozer right alongside you, and so I am very sorry for his passing and your loss of a dear beloved companion. I hope you will find some comfort soon, and feel the love that surrounds you near, and far. You are in my heart, especially now as you find your new way forward. Sending you love from Virginia, USA.
Love to see the videos of the recipies and ingredients and the final dish
Love to see the videos of your recipies
I will be making beef meat pies tomorrow 2/7/’26 (my own, long forgotten recipe by taste, from memories). Came across your site tonight (Canadian MT). I will definitely return and share pics of my humble meat pies with no comparison to yours. Good read indeed with thanks
I was always a subscriber but don’t seem to be now. It’s best to use this email address.

Nagi,I’ve been cooking for years, and with the internet, I’ve been led to your site on numerous occasions… as well, your recipes always work!!! Well thought out and presented in a way that is super easy to understand and accomplish!!! I’m very appreciative of the ease at which we can use your recipes!!! Thank you for that!!!
Here’s a discussion about cooking that’s pretty funny and truthful, but kind of long (1:30:20-1:48:10):

Ignore the video title, the cooking part was relief from the awfulness of the main subject.
I kinda agree with Bri’s hot take, “if you find the prospect of cooking onerous and you want to eat things that aren’t going to kill you, or you know, big in your back.” I get it, but boring. I need an air fryer 😀
Hello Nagi I subscribed and religiously put in the tin recipes I do or going to do. On dec.24 I had a hearth attack and I came back home fron hospital only jan 25.2026.
Now I am recovering and taking the life again in my hand and… in the kitchen. But what a surprise! my subscription is somewhere in the air, my collection of recipe-tin disappeared and, over all, I do not receive your post anymore.
please help me to recovery with your posts and recipes and Dozer pictures!!!
An embrace to you, Dozer and the staff all. Anna Maria
Hello Nagi. I’m in the south part of the UK. It’s February, raining, grey and miserable but HEY I’ve just made a batch of THE BEST naan breads thanks to you. Just as you described – they’re chewy and delicious and soo easy to make. I’m so happy I have discovered you 🙏🥰
Hi Nagi.
My thoughts are with you.
Dozer will be missed by all of us who have shared his journey, antics and presence in your posts.
Don’t stop posting your amazing recipes, but maybe take some time out.
Loosing your best mate, sous chef and dog safe scrap demolisher is a reminder to love and cherish every moment you have together.
Bless you Nagi and our great mate Dozer.
Hey Nagi, (and team presumably) Thank you so much for your recipes! I left home not knowing how to cook, and your effort has almost single-handedly built me into the main cook for my wife and baby. Thank you, thank you. Andrew from Auckland, NZ
I love what you do, on so many levels Nagi. Your recipes, Dozer, your food bank……I think you’re amazing. I live in Hobart, Tasmania.
I have had 3 Golden Retrievers in my adult life. (I wasn’t able to have dogs when I was growing up)
I have also had a black Labrador, who sadly went over the Rainbow Bridge a year ago.
Thinking of you while you are going through this terrible time in your life. Take care. We love you.
Thoroughly enjoy your recipes and instruction videos!

Dear Nagi and Dozer your emails fill me with delight. I simply love Dozer. I have a gorgous furry grandson called Moa who is a Swiss Mountain dog cross Rottweiler. He belongs to my son Simon and his lovely Korean wife Kim and I just adore him. I also love your recipes and when I don’t know what to cook I go straight to your website. I am Coeliac so just change the flour to my g/f flour and soy sauce to Tamara etc so no problem. If you have any good g/f recipes I would be very keen to see them. Thinking of you at this critical time for Dozer and yourself and prayers will be said to comfort you dear Nagi. With my love Yvonne
Thank you ! Nagi, I love your recipes and would love to see you cooking them. Please, any
chance ?
Josephine.
Hi, has the sweet & sour sauce in your recipes changed. The one I remember making didn’t have oyster or Worcestershire sauce and I think it had five spice in it. Am I right in thinking this? If so can I please have that recipe again. Thank you xxx
